Silvia Young Sells Iconic School Where Dreams Come True!

Published on

Leona Lewis, Emma Bunton and Amy Winehouse (before she went a bit wild) have all trod the boards of this London drama school. Now the Sylvia Young Theatre School is on the market for £3,750,000. Take a look inside here!

Sylvia Young set up the school in 1981 to teach students the art of music, dance and drama for just 10p a lesson. The 70-year-old is renowned for schooling many of today’s stars and her independent school can now afford to charge up to £3,850 per term – if it means we could become global superstars like Baby Spice, we’d part with our cash!

Sylvia Young and her young prodigies are going to be moving from the gothic building in Marylebone to larger premises in Camden to accommodate the growing student numbers.

The school itself was originally built as a church school and has many beautiful period features including high ceilings and high gable windows. The Victorian buildings include many rehearsal areas, dance studios, classrooms and a recording studio. The property also benefits from being only a hope, skip and a jump from the tube. While it may remain an education centre under prospective new owners, it’s expected to be converted into flats if planning permission allows.

Sylvia, who is the grandma of chart sensation Eliza Doolittle, is no average granny! She’s so committed to her institution that she’s selling her three-bedroom townhouse too so she can move into the new school which opens in September.

The Victorian townhouse is just down the road from the drama school and is set out over four floors, boasting spacious rooms and beautiful views. It’s under offer though so if you fancy taking advantage of this rare opportunity in the heart of London, get viewing now!
