Top 7 beauty tips to give you flawless skin

Published on

Now if there is one thing I know about skincare is you can never know too much. Just when you think you know everything, you meet someone with seemingly perfect skin and before you know it, you are reaching for a pen and pad to write down some new tips.

With so many opinions about skincare out there, knowing what to incorporate into your routine and what to ignore can be difficult.

The truth is that what works for someone else may not necessarily work for you. If you get into the habit of trying anything and everything, you might find yourself doing some crazy things. It’s all about sticking to a routine that is easy to follow and being extra cautious about the products you use on your skin.  Here are seven great beauty tips to give you flawless skin:

1.   Leave that pimple alone

With all the stuff that passes through your hands, there is just too much bacteria on them at any given time. So if you think you are doing yourself any favours by popping that pimple, think again. Squeezing it is only likely to make it worse, especially if it hasn’t developed a whitehead yet. As a matter of fact, you are better off not touching your face at all unless you wash your hands first.

2. Drink enough water

Ask any skin expert about how to take care of your skin and one of the first things they will tell you is that you should drink a lot of water every day. Water helps your skin maintain its radiance and prevents it from looking saggy. Water also helps combat skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis and wrinkles. It also replenishes skin tissue and enhances its elasticity.

3. Quit smoking

Although we are given many reasons why smoking cigarettes are bad for our health, many of us do not know that smoking can have serious effects on our skin. Tobacco smoke actually contributes to premature skin ageing. So if you want to maintain your youthful looks, stay as far away as possible from the cigarette.

4.  Don’t sleep with your makeup on

After a hectic day at work, it’s normal to want to just get in bed and sleep without removing your makeup. The problem with sleeping in your makeup is that your skin pores stay clogged for the entire night and breakout ensues. The extra minutes you spend removing your makeup will definitely be worth it. Remember to use a gentle cleanser when washing your face.

5. Sleep well

In addition to affecting your productivity, sleep deprivation also harms your skin. Lack of sufficient sleep diminishes skin barrier functions and also increases the signs of ageing. At the same time, don’t forget to use clean soft pillowcases when sleeping to prevent your skin from creasing and wrinkles.

6. Clean your makeup brushes regularly

If you haven’t been washing your foundation and concealer brushes regularly, you may want to start doing it now. This will help you reduce the risk of clogged pores and skin infections. If you can’t wash them twice a month, make sure you do at least once a month.

7. Read skincare product labels

This is the only way to ensure that you are only giving your skin the good stuff. That means that you must take the time to study the best skincare ingredients and stick to brands that contain them. If you have sensitive skin, then only use the products that are designed for your skin type.
